Dr. Shaji Daniel, Ph.D., LPC, NCC
Associate Professor of Counseling and Christian Ministry
Dr. Shaji Daniel serves as Associate Professor of Counseling and Christian Ministry. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) with extensive experience in counselor education, clinical practice, leadership, and pastoral ministry. His passion is equipping Christian counselors and ministry leaders to integrate biblical truth with professional excellence in counseling and ministry.
Dr. Daniel earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision with a Leadership emphasis from the University of the Cumberlands, Kentucky, and a Master of Education in Professional Counseling from the University of Houston–Victoria, Texas. He also holds a Master of Theology in Missiology and Intercultural Studies from Union Biblical Seminary, along with Bachelor of Divinity and Bachelor of Theology degrees from institutions affiliated with the Senate of Serampore University, India.
His clinical practice integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and spiritually integrated counseling approaches. His areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, stress-related disorders, grief, relationship concerns, marriage counseling, and multicultural counseling. Dr. Daniel is also a Certified SYMBIS Facilitator and has received specialized training in cancer care and grief counseling.
Dr. Daniel's research interests include multicultural counseling, spiritual integration, immigrant mental health, leadership development, and counselor education. His scholarly contributions include publications in Family Relations and other counselor education literature. He has been honored with the Doctoral Award for Excellence in Leadership and Advocacy from the University of the Cumberlands and the Ramaiah Award for Excellence in Scholarship from United Theological College, India.

Dr. Shimada earned a Ph.D. in Renewal Theology from Regent University, Virginia, where his doctoral research examined the role of the Holy Spirit in the progressive sanctification of believers through the writings of the Puritan theologian John Owen. He also holds both a Master of Divinity and a Master of Christian Ministry from Wayland Baptist University, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems and Marketing from the University of Hawaii.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Shimada has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in theology, spiritual disciplines, biblical studies, and Christian leadership. Dr. Leslie Verghese serves as Assistant Professor of Counseling with extensive experience in clinical counseling, social work, case management, and Christian mental health ministry. She holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Christian Counseling from Cornerstone University, United States.
Dr. Verghese is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), an Accredited Case Manager (ACM), and a Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor (LCPC). Her professional experience spans clinical mental health care, case management, counseling services, and faith-based counseling practice, serving individuals and families across diverse settings.

Dr. Selin Philip bridges rigorous counseling science and deep biblical faith as an Associate Professor and Director of the PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision program at Colorado Christian University. A Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan and a Nationally Certified Counselor, she holds a theology degree from New Theological College in Dehradun, India, and a PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision from Regent University in Virginia. That cross-cultural, interdisciplinary foundation informs her scholarship, which centers on multicultural issues in counseling, faith integration, character development in college students, and wellness and healing among diverse populations.
